Has anyone got the same problem as me and can suggest a cure, I have strange sections of the screen appear as shown on the attached picture.

This is permanantly attached to the left hand side of the pliers in this example (it also moves with the pliers animation!) but sometimes a whole section of the map can have one of these things, extending almost like a wall.

You can move through these and the picture is correct but it is a right pain and affecting my gameplay (Sundays scrim was horrible with these video problems) I have updated to the latest video drivers, checked the GFX card is running cool enough (63 degrees in game, 48 degress @ desktop).

System specs 2 gb main ram, 256mb 7900gt nvid card, AMD 3200 dual processor.

I am not sure if this is a bug in game or my GFX card is on the way out, the problem started a month or so ago but is getting worse.

Can anyone help please.

this the exact problem i had when my graphics card overheated when i first got game. Hence why i upgraded to sli linked cards, and shoved another fan in case sucking air away from new cards.

So yeah i solved problem by replacing card, after mine overheated. Sorry though no idea whats wrong if u already checked cooling? But im guessing it as u said ur card is on the way out.

Limey ask here They have pretty big community
They might have an answer.

Do your MB has Sli option!! If so I recommended going for another card instead of replacing it.

Cheers for the replies, I can do SLI but with a card that is showing its age and starting to fail it may not be such a good idea to bolt another one of the same type in alongside it.

Ill check out the forums you posted Hawk.  Hat Off

Had a run around the forums Hawk posted and I am not the only one to have this problem with 7900gt

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=38597

Thats not the only topic there are a few relating to texture tearing, one solution was to keep the card cool (although IMHO 60 degrees is not hot for a GFX) the other solution seems to be get a new card or send the card back for repair.

I cannot send the card back as the company I bought the pc from, went bust  Embarrassed

So its a new card coming  Grin

Got to love ebay  Grin

Just purchased 2 x 7900gs brand new unused cards (4 pixel shaders down on my 7900gt) with SLI bridge for £42 + £4.20 postage.

I was going to get a twin 8600 sli configuration, but after chatting to Hawk last night I realised that the card I had was as fast the 8600gt, so I hit ebay for a bit of a browse looking for another 7900 card to maybe SLI the current one or replace it.

Found this listing it was at £41 with 13 hrs to go, so I hit my snipe account and thought I would pay maximum of £64 for it, but got bored with 1:30mins to go and entered my bid of £42 and became the highest bidder  Wink

My reason for going with the twin 7900gs cards is it will give me at least the same performance as I am getting ATM and probably a lot more as it is in twin SLI configuration, this way I am not wasting too much money on DX9 cards, with DX10 games just around the corner.

Ill post back when I have fitted them with a benchmark against my current card.

Thanks to Hawk for the chat last night, cheers m8  thumbs_up

Well the results are in, fitting the ebay bargins into the machine cleared all the texture problems in ETQW.  thumbs_up

There must be quite a memory problem with the 7900GT card, although it worked perfectly for most of the applications I run, ETQW may have been the only application that pushed the card a little too far, as it was the only application to show any problem.  :'(

7900GT 3dmark06 3397 3DMarks (SM2.0 score=1355, SM 3.0 score  = 1308, CPU = 1536)

Single 7900GS 3dmark06 4010 3DMarks (SM2.0 score=1610, SM 3.0 score  = 1626, CPU = 1536) Run with 2 GFX cards installed not SLI'd.

Single 7900GS 3dmark06 4011 3DMarks (SM2.0 score=1614, SM 3.0 score  = 1621, CPU = 1536) Run with only one 7900GS installed.

SLI 7900GS 3dmark06 6404 3DMarks (SM2.0 score=2915, SM 3.0 score  = 2894, CPU = 1536)

All the above bench marks were run with a default desktop configuration to make sure they were comparable, I re-ran the single 7900GS card benchmark once I had reconfigured the system to run dual view with different resolutions on each monitor (as I normaly run my system) and this dropped the performance to 3919 3DMarks (slight drop but I am happy with it).

Although the 7900GS in SLI mode gives a great performance increase over the single card, I have decided to run a single card as I cannot live without having two monitors running (Game on one and desktop on the other) SLI only gives you the option to run a single monitor which sux IMHO.

So I have a new 7900GS card (only used for bench mark test!) and a slightly  wobberly 7900GT card for sale, sensible offers on PM only.  ,  I may be listing these on ebay shortly  Grin

I think at the end of the day going the SLI route was interesting but not for me, so I may purchase a new 9800 when the prices drop a little, for the moment I will run the ebay 7900GS, if it packs up I have a spare

Thanks to all those that offered suggestions and advice.  Hat Off

Nope m8, the option for SLI is as you show it even with 2 monitors.

Only option is 'use one monitor', when  you turn on SLI you get message 'you may have noticed one of your monitors is now blank' with ref to the sli site where you read that SLI is only one monitor  :'(

Thanks anyhow  thumbs_up
