Earlier this week I started writing up an article about strategies for the Valley map, suggesting the benefit of soldiers with rocket launchers will really help the first objective. I've since discovered Bongoboy has posted an article about "Unlocking Valley with the Strollin' Soldier" on the official website.

The article initially comments on beta test feedback that Quake Wars is too Quake-like and complaints about the game being too fast paced and too much like death match play, that it's too difficult for GDF to win the Valley map.

Quote
So suppose I show you how you can unlock the Strogg defences on Valley? Without having to do anything hard? While hardly ever dying? And at a walking pace? And without having to aim? Oh, and you'll probably win the highest XP award too...

...We’re not going to strafe-jump or circle-strafe. Hell, we’re not even going to sprint; leave that Shift key alone, we’re going to walk everywhere. Oh, and aiming? We won’t be doing any of that either. Or at least, our weapon is going to our aiming for us.

The rocket launching soldier may become the newbies equivalent of the ET medic!

Good tactics and for once someone has described how all classes should play, by thinking not by pure fragging.

With a strolling soldier on your team you have a good chance of beating the Strogg, as it is not going to get done by fragging alone.
